Mills Cartridge Belt

Developed after the Civil War by Army officer Anson Mills, this cartridge belt was designed to be an entirely woven belt that would eliminate the problem of corrosion on brass cartridges stored in leather cartridge belts. Many speculate that these corroded cartridges, and the difficulty in extracting spent brass from "Trapdoor" Springfields contributed to Custer's infamous defeat at Little Big Horn. The Mills belt saw little use before the Spanish-American War, but came into widespread use at that time. Our reproductions feature high quality American made buckles and accurately woven webbing. They are adjustable and measure 32" at the smallest and 52" at the fully extended position. Cartridge loops are made to fit .45-70 cartridges and similarly-sized rounds. Also available in 12 gauge shot shell loops. Please specify rifle or shotgun. Canvas webbing has been 'antiqued' to show age but will easily wash if you desire a pristine appearance.

*Note - The rifle belts only come "Pre-Dirty" this can be cleaned off but it does give it a "field Used" look.

*Shot shell belt holds 25 rounds. 45/70 belt holds 45 rounds.

The belt looks great and is built very solidly. I have no doubt that it will withstand plenty of real world use without any complaints.

Also; holy cow that was some fast shipping.

Good Repro Mills Belt February 18, 2016

Nice reproduction Mills belt; really good price. The belt is a little on the yellow end of the khaki spectrum, so I soaked the belt in tea to darken in a bit. This is the preferred belt of my Philippine-American War reenacting unit, the 1st Tennessee Infantry.
