Original Post War Presentation Sword

Original post war presentation sword. This is a great example of the many non-regulation presentation swords that would come about both during and after the Civil War. Features a brass hilt with an Federal Eagle and stars, pomel is marked with the Federal shield, and the scabbard appears to have once been blued and is complete with brass hardware.
Here is an original enlisted Model 1840 light artillery saber that is complete with its original metal scabbard. Termed an Ames Type 2, this variation was made from 1860 through 1865 and features a saber that has a flush handguard without a recess and its matching scabbard has a throat collar mount similar to the M1860 cavalry model. Excellent condition. Blade ricasso marked with, “Made by/Ames Mfg Co./Chicopee/Mass” inside a scroll. Reverse side “US/A.H.K./1864”. Brass guard and scabbard drag also with same inspector’s marks.
