This .58cal "Trenton Contract" percussion musket is in very good overall condition. The rifled musket was a product of the Trenton Locomotive and Machine Company of Trenton, NJ circa 1863-1864 and was cold to the State of New Jersey under contract. The firm also had contracts with the U.S. government as well and produced some 11,500 weapons for the Federal Army. Lockplate is stamped â€œ1864â€, Eagle to the right of the hammer followed by â€œU.S.â€ over â€œTRENTONâ€ underneath. The barrel is stamped ""VP" over eagle and "1864". "NJ" cartouche is found opposite the lockplate. Buttplate is stamped with â€œU.S.â€. Musket is 100% mechanically viable.
