Original 1845 French Infantry Officer's Sword
This is one of the most beautiful fighting swords of the 19th century, and was the basis for the US Foot Officer M1850 Sword. The hilt and scabbard have both matching serial numbers, SN: 55095, a true rarity for a 170 year old sword! On the guard are the encircled letters "J" & "C" stamped. Equally used by Confederates and Federals, the sword has been beautifully cared for by their previous owners, as there is no significant marring, nicks or damage to be found. The matching scabbard, covered in a beautiful chocolate brown patina, does have a significant dent towards the drag. A must have for any collector!
