CSA Infantry Battle Flag
Also known as the Southern Cross, Confederate Infantry carried this 52" x 52" flag into battle. This design was adopted as the battle flag to help eliminate confusion on the battlefield caused by the similarity of the Stars and Bars and the Stars and Stripes. This pattern came to represent the Southern Cause to most people.

58th Alabama Regiment's Flag, issued between February and May, 1864. At the end of the war the Flag Bearer, James Freeman, concealed this flag in his boot.
