M1850 Shield Front Cap Pouch, Pre-War Pattern, Made in Gettysburg, PA
High-quality, American-made copy of a pre-war production US cap pouch by the Allegheny Arsenal. The Shield U.S. style production cap pouch was made from 1850 through late-1862, although some contractors made this pattern throughout the war. Cap pouches of this type were used by both sides during the Civil War. Our copy is copied from an original in our private collection from Funkstown, MD. It is made from blackened Hermann Oak leather and completely hand sewn with coated linen thread. Made by our Master Leathersmith in Gettysburg, PA
