South Carolina Hat Pin
Our South Carolina Hat pins are available in solid Brass or white metal with attaching pin on back. Approximately 2 inches high by 1-1/2 inches wide. The Palmetto Tree, added to the South Carolina State Flag in 1861, was in reference to the defense of Sullivan's Island by Colonel William Moultrie in 1775 against the British. Col. Moultrie's fortress on the island had largely survived due to the palmetto trees (which were laid over its sand walls) were able to withstand the bombardments by the British Fleet.
Original South Carolina Hat Pin found at Grahamville Depot, South Carolina.
