Mills Belt Style

Mills Cartridge Belt
Developed after the Civil War by Army officer Anson Mills, this cartridge belt was designed to be an entirely woven belt that would eliminate the problem of corrosion on brass cartridges stored in leather cartridge belts. Many speculate that these corroded cartridges, and the difficulty in extracting spent brass from "Trapdoor" Springfields contributed to Custer's infamous defeat at Little Big Horn. The Mills belt saw little use before the Spanish-American War, but came into widespread use at that time. Our reproductions feature high quality American made buckles and accurately woven webbing. They are adjustable to fit a range of sizes. Cartridge loops are made to fit .45-70 cartridges and similarly-sized rounds. Also available in 12 gauge shot shell loops. Please specify rifle or shotgun.
